COD (commercial operation date)

COD (commercial operation date) is the date from which a renewable plant operates commercially and sells power. It follows completion of construction, grid connection and technical acceptance.

In project sale agreements and EPC contracts COD is the reference point for payments, liquidated damages and warranties. In a financial model revenues and debt service start at COD, so any delay directly reduces IRR.
