Grid connection conditions and connection agreement

Grid connection conditions are issued by the network operator (DSO or the TSO, PSE) on the developer's request. They define the connection point, capacity and technical requirements. The connection agreement is signed on that basis and obliges the operator to connect the plant and the developer to build it by the agreed date.

Why it is the key document

Grid capacity is now the scarcest resource in Polish renewables and operators frequently refuse connection for lack of capacity. A project with a signed connection agreement is worth considerably more than one with conditions only.

What to check when buying a project

• validity of the conditions and dates in the agreement,
• connection capacity and point,
• connection cost and payment schedule,
• whether the agreement survives a change of control of the project company.
